Deviant acts can be assertions of individuality and identity, and thus as rebellion against group norms of the dominant culture and in favor of a sub-culture by Albert K. Cohen in 1955. They are labeled "crimes" by society are those that so severely violate public order that they must be handled coercively by the police, courts, and correctional policies. In a society, the behavior of an individual or a group determines how a deviant creates norms. Parenting styles refers to how parents interact, discipline, communicate and respond to the behavior of a child while socializing the child into the group was given by Diana Baumrind in 1960. Parenting style is a pattern of behavior, attitude, approach that a parent uses when they are interacting with and raising their child. Parenting styles are the different ways parents raise their children. There are several parenting styles, including authoritarian, permissive, uninvolved, and authoritative. This study focuses on parents’ children relationship and how parenting style influencing deviance behavior of the children from the age group of 7-17. The sample is collected from the school students of Government Panchayat Union Middle School, Trichy and from their Parents after getting consent from the higher authorities. Totally 150 samples are collected, 50 from Father, 50 from mother and 50 from their children and the result is evaluated from analyzing the data’s collected using SPSS software by running frequency test, correlation and Fisher’s extract test. The result of the study showed that the parenting style influences the children deviant behavior and hypothesis framed were tested by Fisher extract test, chi-square test and co relation test. Permissive and authoritative parenting style leads to less deviant in 7-17 years children compared to authoritative and uninvolved parenting style.
