Relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance in autistic children: A psychological study

Author(s):

Rashmi Gupta

Abstract:

This study investigates the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and academic performance among 100 autistic children in Bihar’s Arrah district. Using descriptive statistics, correlation, and simple regression analysis methods, the research found a strong and statistically significant positive correlation between EI and academic performance (r = 0.68, p<0.001). The regression model demonstrated that EI could predict up to 46% of the variance in academic performance. These results emphasize that developing EI is essential for improving the academic outcomes of autistic children. The study encourages teachers, parents, and policymakers to focus on cultivating emotional intelligence to ensure the holistic development of children with autism.
