Abstract:
This research study find out the prevalence of occupational stress among secondary school teachers in the Meerut District of Uttar Pradesh. Recognizing teaching as a demanding profession that significantly influences student development, the study highlights various stressors impacting educators, including emotional exhaustion, difficulty relaxing after work, behavior management challenges, administrative burdens, unrealistic expectations from parents and students, and lack of appreciation. Using a descriptive research design and a sample size of 385 respondents selected through simple random sampling, primary data was collected to assess the extent and nature of occupational stress. The findings reveal that a majority of teachers experience high levels of emotional and mental fatigue, with administrative duties and inadequate recognition being major contributors. The study underscores the urgent need for institutional support, stress management resources, and policies that prioritize teacher well-being. Addressing occupational stress is essential for sustaining a motivated and effective teaching workforce, which is critical for quality education.
