Abstract:

Impact of Verbal and Non-Verbal meditative stimulus on vigilance of college students was examined in the present research. The study is conducted on 30 female university students selected from DEI, Agra. Their age range in between 21-25 years and they are from urban areas. Verbal Meditative Stimulus by George, Non-Verbal Meditative Stimulus by Gulan and Bourdon- Wiersma Vigilance Test by Grewel (1953) was used in the study. Wilcoxon-Mann Whitney U test was computed. Z-scores for Correct Responses (z=6.55) and Errors (z=-6.58) indicate that there is highly significant difference on pre and post measure of vigilance task, where p<0.01. The study can be utilized by the counsellors or therapist to modify or develop intervention on the basis of the findings vigilance of the students can be improved through this meditative stimulus.
